I'd like to brag about how amazing bookstagrammers are because they make me feel so loved on a daily basis and I really want to give that love back to them! 😘 So...I've developed a little segment to my blog called "The Bookstagrammer Ballads." This Monday I am featuring one of my greatest bookstabesties who is a beacon of sunshine every day I get to talk to her and gush about books. I am always grateful for her support. Welcome Jessica, @ireadtorelax! Meet Jessica, @ireadtorelax!Why did you decide to start a Bookstagram? I love books more than just about anything else and I started seeing these amazing accounts that took these gorgeous pictures and then did nothing but TALK about books and I was like I HAVE to try this!! 💗 What is your favorite genre? Favorite full genre - science fiction, favorite subgenre - paranormal romance. If I could only read one type of book forever, that would be it. What are you currently reading? The Shadow Veil Academy series by Heather Renee, Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton, and the Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan (for work). What are some of your favorite fandoms? Folk of the Air, ACOTAR, the Falconer trilogy, Monsters of Verity, omg so many! What's your favorite color, movie, song, band, TV show, food, animal, etc? Favorite Color - burgundy Favorite movie - Pitch Perfect 3 Favorite band - Clutch Favorite TV Show - Lost Girl Favorite food - potatoes Favorite animal - clouded leopards or giraffes Who are your Top 5 favorite characters in literature? Ian from the Host, Alanna of Trebond from the Song of the Lionness Quartet, Xandra Vardan from the Immortal Empire trilogy, Mor from ACOTAR, and Bean from Ender’s Game. What do you love about being a bookstagrammer? I LOVE being able to talk as often as I want to people that love books as much as I do. There’s nothing better out there than finding the people who nerd out about your passions!! What are your hobbies outside of Bookstagram? I like to cook, I occasionally try not to die at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I dabble in writing fiction. List some bookstagrammers that have inspired you on this bookish journey! Tiffany from @bookwormgram, Vanessa from @ve_xo, Erin from @asthebookends, Areli from @offaerietalesandbooks and YOU! What are some bookish shops you love buying merch from? Pages of the Night (@libraryofthenight) for bookish pops, Flickerwix, Wick and Jane, Alchemy & Ink, and Cornerfolds Candles for bookish candles, Brio & Brandish, Iron & Ink Designs, and Icey Designs for bookish pins, Voodoo Isle for bookish bunnies, Love You More Studio for Book Sleeves. What are some important things you've learned as a bookstagrammer? To not feel guilty if my style isn’t the same as someone else’s, to experiment with other styles I like to see how I can incorporate pieces into my unique style, to not feel like I always have to have ALL the books or merch, to focus on my journey not anyone else’s and to be okay with doing what I can in the time that I have. This is not a full time job for me and that’s okay! Follow Jessica on Instagram at @ireadtorelax!! Be sure to check out my stories on Instagram @the_bookish_ballad all week for a more interactive feature and get to know Jessica more.
Next Monday, I'm singing the ballad of @reads.by.the.sea! Stay tuned...
