I'd like to brag about how amazing bookstagrammers are because they make me feel so loved on a daily basis and I really want to give that love back to them! 😘 So...I've developed a little segment to my blog called "The Bookstagrammer Ballads." This Monday I am featuring an incredible bookstagrammer, Shelby, @beautyandthelibrary!<3 Meet Shelby, @beautyandthelibrary!Why did you decide to start a Bookstagram? I decided to start a bookstagram because of course, my love of books. There were so many books that I loved but no one in my friend group had ever read them, so I had no one to talk about them with which is one of the most frustrating things ever, especially if it’s an absolutely amazing book. On my personal Instagram, I found out about this thing called bookstagram, a place where bookworms like me talked to each other, made awesome friendships and took beautiful photos! It took me awhile to decide that this was what I wanted - I didn’t want to sit on the sidelines, I wanted to be apart of something! I haven’t looked back since. What is your favorite genre? I’m an absolute sucker for fantasy. While I do enjoy the occasional sci-fi and contemporary novel, I’m always drawn back to the world of fantasy. When I read fantasy I truly feel swept away and immersed into the world! What are you currently reading? I haven’t been reading much lately due to the fact I’m in the process of moving but i actually just started Crave by Tracy Wolff. I’ve only just started and am so far intrigued! What are some of your favorite fandoms? I absolutely LOVE all Sarah J. Maas books. She’s probably one of my favourite authors! I also love the Grishaverse fandom (I prefer the Shadow and Bone trilogy to Six of Crows which is probably an unpopular opinion). Those are my two main fandoms but I also love Serpent and Dove, Sorcery of Thorns, Beauty and the Beast, anything by Tricia Levenseller, Harry Potter, Vampire Academy, and so many more, my brain can’t think of them all! What's your favorite color, movie, song, band, TV show, food, animal, etc? I don’t really have a favourite colour but if I had to choose, I would say light pink! My favourite movie of all time is the live action Beauty and the Beast (let’s be real though I love all Disney movies) and my favourite TV show right now is 9-1-1. A song I’ve been vibing to lately is Falling by Harry Styles, and while I don’t listen to specific bands (not recently anways), I love artists like Rihanna, Harry styles, Ava max, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and lots more. My music taste is always changing, I’m truly one of the worst people to ask about music! My favourite food would probably have to be cinnamon toast crunch - as sad as that is, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, even if it is something with lots of sugar. My favourite animal of all time would have to be sharks. I love learning about them and while I won’t be petting one anytime soon, I can love them from a respectable distance. Who are your Top 5 favorite characters in literature? Ooo that’s such a tough question! I can’t say these are in any particular order but I love Feyre from ACOTAR because she helped me get through a really dark time in my life and helped me have hope for the future (let’s be fair, I love all SJM characters but my list shouldn’t be ALL Sarah J. Maas!). I love Lou from Serpent & Dove because she’s such a relatable, badass, cinnamon bun loving character and Elisabeth Scrivener from Sorcery of Thorns because of her love for books. Nikolai Lantsov is also one of my favourite characters - I love the inner turmoil he faces during the last book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy and King of Scars! And finally, while I shouldn’t be doing another Maas character, I can’t forget my husband Rhysand. He’s the ultimate book boyfriend and I would 100% fight Feyre (even though she is my queen) for him. What do you love about being a bookstagrammer? I love being able to express myself creatively, meet new people and learn about new books! Not to mention the constant fangirling with my friends about my favourite books. What are your hobbies outside of Bookstagram? I absolutely LOVE graphic design, it’s one of my biggest passions and I hope one day to make a career out of it! While I do edits for my bookstagram, I’ve been editing long before that. I also write in my free time, paint (something I’ve only recently started doing), cosplaying, and of course photography! A smaller hobby of mine is collecting sea shells whenever I go on vacation! List some bookstagrammers that have inspired you on this bookish journey! @faeriefiction_ @clionareads @itsafangirlfantasy @book_connoisseur @crypticartisan @extraordinarystardust and so many more! I am constantly being inspired by new people, it’s amazing! What are some bookish shops you love buying merch from? This may be biased but I absolutely love anything from Fabled Merch/Wick and Fable! I love the candles and the merch and the monthly boxes and pins!! I also love Fairyloot boxes, an Etsy shop called seasonalvibe, and pins from dustandpages and readandwonder_. What are some important things you've learned as a bookstagrammer? I’ve learned numbers aren’t the end of the world. What matters most about bookstagram is that you’re having fun, making friends and fangirling about books. Post what you love, do what you love, read what you love. Happiness always come before numbers! Follow Shelby on Instagram at @beautyandthelibrary!! BOOK INFORMATION
Incendiary (Hollow Crown #1) by Zoraida Córdova Publisher: Disney-Hyperion Release Date: April 28th 2020 Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy SYNOPSIS I am Renata Convida. I have lived a hundred stolen lives. Now I live my own. Renata Convida was only a child when she was kidnapped by the King's Justice and brought to the luxurious palace of Andalucia. As a Robari, the rarest and most feared of the magical Moria, Renata's ability to steal memories from royal enemies enabled the King's Wrath, a siege that resulted in the deaths of thousands of her own people. Now Renata is one of the Whispers, rebel spies working against the crown and helping the remaining Moria escape the kingdom bent on their destruction. The Whispers may have rescued Renata from the palace years ago, but she cannot escape their mistrust and hatred--or the overpowering memories of the hundreds of souls she turned "hollow" during her time in the palace. When Dez, the commander of her unit, is taken captive by the notorious Sangrado Prince, Renata will do anything to save the boy whose love makes her place among the Whispers bearable. But a disastrous rescue attempt means Renata must return to the palace under cover and complete Dez's top secret mission. Can Renata convince her former captors that she remains loyal, even as she burns for vengeance against the brutal, enigmatic prince? Her life and the fate of the Moria depend on it. But returning to the palace stirs childhood memories long locked away. As Renata grows more deeply embedded in the politics of the royal court, she uncovers a secret in her past that could change the entire fate of the kingdom--and end the war that has cost her everything. You know that hesitant feeling you get when you read a book by an author whose books you've never read before? You have to deal with a whole new writing style and get used to the way they tell a story. Leading with an open mind, somewhere along the way that feeling may take you to a destination that either surprises or disappoints you. If I were an Illusionari, I would make 4 sparkling stars dance around Zoraida Córdova and her new YA fantasy novel, Incendiary, because I was delightfully surprised how much I enjoyed the political intrigue, the plot twists, and how unique the story is from the hundreds of fantasy novels I've read.
Though predictable in some areas, especially with the "enigmatic" and despicable Prince Castian, I enjoyed the semi-enemies-to-lovers trope Zoraida sets up and I'm desperately clinging to the hope that my guess is right about the love interest. I'm thrilled to get my hands on the second book because the ending was set up brilliantly for the second book in what I hope will be a longer series! Read an ExcerptFavorite QuotesEnter the Giveaway!

This Monday I am featuring one of my bookstabesties who I just adore! Welcome the lovely, Hailey, @page_pixie!!<3 Meet Hailey, @page_pixie!Why did you decide to start a Bookstagram? I started bookstagram as a positive outlet, while struggling with anxiety and depression. Books have been my escape for all my life, but I went through a very tough time a while back, and I stopped reading altogether for over five years. I had sort of settled into a life where I didn't constantly have my nose stuck in a book, but then when another major event sent me spiraling, I knew I had to find something positive again. So I started reading, and joined booksta to keep me reading and take my mind off things. What is your favorite genre? PNR (paranormal romance) but I'm picky about it, LOL! What are you currently reading? Six of Crows! I totally understand the Kaz Brekker love now. He's swoon worthy! What are some of your favorite fandoms? Dark-Hunters, Black Dagger Brotherhood, The Folk of the Air, Grishaverse, ACOTAR, SJTR, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Studio Ghibli. What's your favorite color, movie, song, band, TV show, food, animal, etc? Favorite Color: Purple Favorite Movie: It's a tie between Beauty and the Beast (not the live action), and The Crow Favorite Song: Do people actually have favorite songs? Like, can they really choose? I'm such a music junkie, this is a difficult question. Lately I've been kicking it old school though, and have been currently obsessed with the acoustic version of Tears Don't Fall by Bullet For My Valentine Favorite Band: Avenged Sevenfold (but if speaking honestly, it's more like everything before the Hail to the King album) Favorite TV Show: Buffy Favorite Food: Mexican Favorite Animal: Wolves (give me all the little wolfies, they're so cute!) What is your biggest fear? I'm terrified of losing my eyesight. Who are your Top 5 favorite characters in literature? 1.) The Little Prince 2.) Lestat de Lioncourt 3.) Acheron Parthenopaeus 4.) Feyre Archeron 5.) Winnie the Pooh What do you love about being a bookstagrammer? I love meeting people that share a common interest, seeing all the beautiful photos, being in a supportive community, getting book recs, and tons more! What are your hobbies outside of Bookstagram? Actually reading, writing, listening to music, attempting crafts, spending time with family, binge watching Netflix shows. Be sure to check out all the amazing bookish shops mentioned and support small businesses around the world!<3 What are some important things you've learned as a bookstagrammer? Not to be too hard on yourself when it comes to taking photos. Everyone's feed is different, and beautiful, no matter how elaborate or simple. I've also learned that I have an amazing supportive community that has been there for me whenever I've needed it. Follow Hailey on Instagram at @page_pixie!!
